The Unfinished Swan inaugurates a white space poised with a central reticule it wants you to surrender with an impatient button press. The environments we step into are usually pre-fabricated with refinement and lustre to captivate and hold our attention. The game claims to be “about exploring the unknown”, which is a safe way to say it’s not going to have any really creative puzzles. The conjecture when facing a blank canvas makes for a poignant introduction. I won’t go into detail on what happens then, and I suggest you avoid watching any gameplay videos if you are genuinely curious about playing. Then you’re left with a blank white screen, a canvas of sorts, on which you’re free to discover the world that awaits.
